Town of St. Marys provides update on cyber security incident

The Town of St. Marys is providing the public with an update on a cyber security incident that occurred on July 20, 2022.

Upon learning of the incident, the Town took immediate steps to contain, manage and protect its data. The municipality has now engaged industry experts Deloitte Canada to assist with the response and conduct a thorough investigation of the incident.

Town of St. Marys investigating cyber security incident

The Town of St. Marys is investigating a cyber security incident that locked its internal server and encrypted its data.

The incident occurred on July 20, 2022. Upon learning of the incident, staff took immediate steps to secure any sensitive information, including locking down the Town’s IT systems and restricting access to email. The Town also notified its legal counsel, the Stratford Police Service and the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security.

Section of Queen Street to be closed on June 24 for asphalt repairs

A section of Queen Street East will be closed on Friday, June 24 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for asphalt repairs. A detour will be set up using Brock Street South, Jones Street East and St. Andrews Street South.

Motorists are reminded that the following roads remain closed due to sanitary sewer replacements:

• Huron Street South between Queen Street East and Elgin Street East
• Elgin Street East between Brock Street South and St. Andrews Street South

Super Splash Waterpark opens at the St. Marys Quarry on June 25

Visitors will be able to climb, jump, swing, bounce and slide their way through the Super Splash inflatable obstacle course at the St. Marys Quarry starting June 25. Dubbed the “ultimate playground,” this inflatable for ages six and older will include a 14-foot-tall Ice Tower for free climbing and a 12-foot-tall giant slide.

Residents reminded of rules around all-terrain vehicles

Riding an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) is an exciting way to explore the outdoors, especially during the spring and summer months. However, there are rules in St. Marys that have been put in place to keep both residents and riders safe.

In St. Marys, the use of ATVs is governed by our Traffic, Parking and Boulevard Maintenance By-law. The by-law states that ATVs can only be used on private property, with the consent of the property owner.
